How to choose the right puppy for me?
Choose a reputable breeder whose dogs have up to date medical check for the following diseases
The parents of the puppy should have certificate of Patella luxation and Eye examination.
Patella Check abbreviation that stands the dog is healthy: Pat. 0 or PLL Clear/ 0
Eye check abbreviation that stands the dog is healthy: Eyes Clear or PRA 0
The results of these health test should be written on the Pedigree of the puppy. These studies provide that your puppy will be healthy in the long run. Dogs who have outstanding dog show results and are free from the listed diseases are more likely to have beautiful and healthy puppies than others.
Female or male puppy?
All puppies are sweet!
Who can say they're not the most adorable companions you could ask for?
They are all sweet, cuddly, wiggly, snuggly, and affectionate.
For some reason, many times people have a pre-determined idea that female puppies are easier to train and exhibit less aggressive behavior, but in actuality boys are just as easy. In fact, female puppies usually rule the roost, and are very independent and territorial.
Females will let you know who's boss right away and will try to establish dominance.Males are very playful, attentive, affectionate, and want to please you. They are also motivated by food (remember the way to love is through the stomach or something like that) and so males are quite easy to train. Boys love to play games and they are fun loving all their life.
Females, as they age, are a little more reserved. While the independent spunkiness of the female is attractive, so is the gentle, attentive calmness of a male. The one myth that needs to be debunked is that males are always
"humping" or liftingtheir leg to potty on everything. If a male is neutered early, he rarely exhibits these traits. In fact, boys who are neutered by 5 months of age usually don't ever raise their leg to potty. So when considering a puppy, don't forget those boys. They win your heart and keep it.

Puppies need to be house trained in order to understand that it's not okay to eliminate in your house. House training is a simple process, but one that must be carried out positively. Use pee pads at first - when the dog is too small to go out. We start training the little pups for house trainig at the age of 5 weeks. It will help a lot to the new owner.
What can a dog eat?
Dogs should be fed at the same time every day. This will keep your dog on a bathroom schedule. Give some food to your dog in the morning and give her a 2nd meal in the afternoon. Feed your dog the same type and brand of food every day. Unlike humans, a dog's digestive system cannot handle changes in food.

You should brush your dog's teeth once a week. Buy dog toothbrush and toothpaste in the pet shop.
What can I do when my puppy changes her teeth?
Puppies change her teeth at the age of 4-5 months. They chew a lot during this period. Give them extra amount of dog chewing and put away dangerous human object in your house. Check the teeth changing procedure regularly. Take your dog to the vet if it is necessary.
Chewing and chewing damages
The sad truth is that during teething even the cutest puppy can easily turn into a "shoe-terminator".
In the age of 3 to 6 months puppies replace their milk teeth with their final teeth. This process is quite unnoticeable as puppies – unlike human babies – don't cry, they don't require soothing or musing their food.
However, it is highly recommended to do is to collect and put away all items that we wouldn't wish to be used as dog chew, such as cables, shoes, slippers, and everything else made from natural skin or wood, or anything that could be broken down into smaller parts that the dog could swallow, etc.
Instead, we should provide the dog with plenty of chewing toys e.g. chewing shoes, rolls, bites, etc. made from dried calf skin. When the puppy starts looking for a chewing item we should offer these chowing toys and warn and stop them if they would prefer any other item for chewing. This way we could avoid sorry moments.
The dog digs – What to do?
Using paws to dig is a natural activity for dogs and it is often has no any specific purpose, it's just a play. Bolognese also likes to dig often in their beds, pillows or anything before lying down on them.
How to play with my dog?
The Bolognese is very playful so we should spend every day some (1- 1,5 hours a day!) time to play together when we can focus only on our pet. These dogs especially like soft toys and the smaller balls.
It is possible that a Bolognese suddenly stop in the middle of the play to take some rest and to lay down, this is normal behavior so it is recommended to leave them to rest.
How to teach my dog?
It is easy to teach a Bolognese as they like learning new tricks. It is recommended to take it to dog school after 1 year of age, preferably in an institution where they form separate classes for smaller and larger size breeds. In some places there are also available some socialization courses even before the age of 1 year.
In case we have sufficient experience in It we can also teach our pet at home.
A Bolognese is able to successfully pass the basic obedience training and this breed is also good as a therapeutic dog.
How to reward my dog?
A Bolognese can be rewarded with some dog treat or –some of them – with some play together. For each properly accomplished instruction we should reward our pet with a dog treat. Most of the commercially available dog treats are too large for this breed so I usually cut each piece of treat into 2-3 bits to make it easier them to eat. It is recommended to choose treats that are not too hard or crispy as it is difficult us to cut them up and it is also more difficult for the dogs to swallow them.
To avoid overeating the quantity of treats should be subtracted from the daily food portion. Don't give more than 10 – 20 small bites of dog treats a day.
Walking with dogs
Walk your dog properly - enjoy the time outside! Use a normal leash and a soft collar. Always take some dogtreats with you and give it to your dog when he behaves well. It's a real pleasure to walk with a well-behaved dog who doesn't pull his leash.
My dog eats everything from the ground!
Usually yound Bologneses find it very interesting to eat from the ground during walking. We should teach our puppy to quit this bad habit because it can cause serious illnesses or poisoning. Teach them the " LEAVE IT" command and use it during the regular walk.
My dog vomits – Is she sick?
Vomiting not necessarily means sickness at dogs. Don't give yur dog human food such as: spicy meat, sausage, etc. Check on the internet what meals and foods are dangerous for your dog.
Ask your vet for help in serous situations.
Clothing tips
A Bolognese has a small body with delicate skin so they easily can have cold during colder weather. To avoid problems it is recommended to wear a dog jacket but overalls covering also the legs can do a good service in wet weather as they can protect the fur from soaking and repel the dirt. Waterproof clothing with soft, warm lacing is recommended.
Bolognese in the rain
Most Bolognese doesn't like wet weather so we shouldn't be surprised if they are not willing to get out of the house in the rain. To my experience it doesn't help to take them out from the house by force as they only want to get back inside as soon as possible even without a pee.
Leaving your dog alone at home
A little 10 weeks old puppy is like a newborn human baby- should be watched all day long. When your dog becomes older you can start training him to be alone. All owners find it occasionally necessary to leave their puppydog at home alone. So before leaving your puppy for long periods, you should teach him how to amuse himself appropriately when left alone, such as by chewing stuffed chewtoys, and learning how to enjoy his own company without becoming anxious or stessed.
A good owner knows that the Bolognese is a social dog - a companion dog breed, so do not leave him alone for more than 2-3 hours. This breed is chosen by those whose lifestyle and work allow them to keep a real companion dog.
Stairs
For puppies it is not recommended to allow to take the stairs themselves: they not only able to fall down but their muscles, bones and joints are not strong enough for it so using the stairs too early can have negative health consequences later. My recommendation is to bring the puppies up to 6 – 8 months of age in hands on the stairs up and down and we should fence off the stairs from them. Older dogs can use the stairs freely but try to keep it at a moderate level.
When will my puppy start her heat cycle?
While it is not a hard rule, most females come into their first heat cycle around six months of age. While many females will hold to a fairly steady schedule of coming into season about every six months, it can vary. Once a female has her first season, you can track subsequent cycles to determine what her natural pattern will be. The lenght of a cycle is app. 21 days. You shouldn't put clothes or pant on your female dog during her cycle. They perfectly cleans themselves.
How often should I deworm my dog?
Worms or parasites are one of the more common problems encountered in canine veterinary practice. Several different types of worms may be seen in dogs and puppies: roundworms, hookworms, tapeworms, whipworms, and coccidia. For this reason you should deworm your dog in every 6 months. Reliable products: Drontal Plus or Milbemax tablets. Roll the deworming tablet into a little piece of ham and give itt o your dog.
